The only time I’ve really been away from Christchurch was when I went overseas for the big OE after I did my degree. I did the big trip to Europe, spent a lot of time in England visiting my mother’s relatives, and went to a couple of big SCA events while I was staying in America.
That was pretty awesome because it was total immersion. I went from knowing a little bit about SCA, from what I had played with a very tiny group of people, to a huge event with a thousand people on site. It’s really nice to look at the events we’re holding here, and think, this looks like what I saw then
. It’s taken us ten years, but we’re getting there.
